I am now a Senior Partner at Simmons Gainsford LLP, having joined as a graduate trainee in 1992, and then promoted to a Partner in 1999. I look after some of SG’s largest clients, often those with international requirements.
I am a property company specialist and has advised clients alongside the Simmons Gainsford Real Estate Tax Team on appropriate structures, VAT, property acquisitions and disposals.
I head up our membership in PrimeGlobal, the 3rd largest international association of accountancy firms in the world and I am the chairman of the EMEA membership committee and chair applications for membership to PrimeGlobal.
As Managing Director, I have overall responsibility for the business which includes the management, direction and delivery of our services to all our members.

Carin is a Chartered Insurance Broker with over 25 years experience in the UK insurance industry.

Karen has a wealth of experience and many enviable long standing client and candidate relationships. She is very focused on exceeding expectations and both her own and SG Resources’ reputations are of paramount importance to her.
She specialises in Total Facilities Management including Hospitality & Food Service and in the Business and Support Services sector. Karen recruits at Board, Executive, Director and Senior Management level. She is very thorough, enquiring and intuitive, and has a natural ability to engage with clients and candidates, which has contributed greatly to her success at matching the right client with the right candidate.
Mark is a seasoned CEO/Chairman working with PLCs, private-equity and privately owned company boards and stakeholders. His background includes taking an AIM listed plc as CEO to the FTSE250, building two large international divisions for FTSE100 companies and leading two private-equity backed business services companies. He has strong strategic, financial and business building skills and has extensive M&A experience having completed over 50 acquisitions in his career.
Mark studied Economics at Bristol University and has an MBA from INSEAD business school in France.
I am a partner at Simmons Gainsford LLP, having joined in 1991, and being promoted to Partner in 1994. I have a diverse portfolio of audit clients covering the property, publishing and insurance sectors. I head up our Russian desk and work with a number of clients from Russia and Eastern Europe. I am also SG’s resident Staff Partner, whilst also Director of both SG HR Ltd and SG Resources Ltd.
Previous to SG I qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1985 with a city practice, spending the following 5 years working for an international Chartered Accountancy firm in their London and St Albans offices.
I am a partner at Simmons Gainsford LLP, having joined in 1993, and have been a Partner since 2011. I am responsible for developing our Uckfield office, which are now 22 strong. I specialise in statutory and management accounts production, corporate and personal tax, new business start-ups, and general consultancy.
I previously trained and worked with a small sole partner firm, where it then evolved into SG.
Tony is a chartered surveyor. He has extensive experience in preparing claims in respect of acquisitions, construction and refurbishment projects across the property spectrum covering offices, retail, industrial, healthcare, hotels and leisure properties.
He specialises in dealing with large single and portfolio acquisitions and negotiating claims to a favourable conclusion with the Inland Revenue, Valuation Office and Regional Building Surveyors.
I am a partner at Simmons Gainsford LLP, having joined straight from graduating Oxford University in 2003. I then trained and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with SG, and have since been promoted to Partner.
My client portfolio covers many sectors, but with a specific focus on privately owned businesses run by entrepreneurs. I pay a particular interest in working with my clients to understand their drive and ambitions, so to fully assist in achieving their aspirations.
I have also extensive experience in advising and auditing property companies.
Working alongside the Real Estate Tax Team on appropriate structures and works with a number of UK and international property groups .
The property clients include those involved in construction, development, investment and property fund managers.
Paddy advises on the full range of VAT for businesses and their advisors. As well as providing consultancy, he also acts for clients in relation to penalties and disputes, and appeals to the First-tier Tribunal. For a number of years he had his own consultancy covering VAT and some customs and trade issues.
Paddy began his tax career in Ireland and has worked in a number of international firms in Ireland and England. He has been a VAT partner in two “Group A” firms. Paddy is a contributing editor of Hill and Redman’s Law of Landlord and Tenant and is a past National Chairman of the VAT Practitioners Group

Gavin has been Service Manager at Simmons Gainsford Credit Management for 7 years and is responsible for our performance for all of our clients. This equates to ensuring invoices valuing over £250 million per annum are paid promptly and happily.
Prior to joining Simmons Gainsford Credit Management Gavin was Customer Services Manager at Zurich Insurance. Gavin was involved in transitions for Zurich during which time he worked in central eastern Europe, finally settling in Krakow. Gavin’s experience in customer service served as an excellent platform for his development as Services Manager where he is responsible for the performance of Credit Control Service for over 40 clients. Gavin is an active member of the Institute of Credit Management.
I am a partner at Simmons Gainsford LLP, becoming so in 1998, having joined the company in 1992. I specialise in tax, with considerable experience advising on high value transactions.
I also run SG’s Private Client Team, which looks after circa 1,600 clients including a large number of High Net Worth individuals, Non-Doms and Trusts, and provide advice on all taxes which impact on the affairs of private individuals as well as privately owned businesses.
Geoff has spent over 30 years in Financial Services, focusing in particular on employee benefits and investment markets. He is an experienced corporate adviser and has several clients with pay rolls in excess of 1000 staff. Geoff’s extensive knowledge of the industry, in addition to his exceptional communication skills have been fundamental in cementing long term relationships with his clients.
Bas heads up the Simmons Gainsford Real Estate Tax Team. He has extensive expertise both in structuring real estate and infrastructure funds and associated management vehicles in a direct tax, personal tax and VAT efficient manner. Bas also deals with transactions involving acquisitions and disposals of real estate for a wide variety of clients. His experience includes being an International Real Estate and Funds Tax Partner at PwC and as lead tax advisor for a number of international and UK investors and asset managers.
Bas has performed a number of roles during his career. He originally trained with EY in audit before moving into tax. Discovering a love for training whilst at EY he became a tutor at BPP Professional Education where he taught tax, economics, management accounting and case study papers to ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA, and CIOT students. He subsequently spent 6 years at KPMG where he undertook M&A tax work, established the corporate recovery advisory tax practice before joining the real estate team. He was then approached by PwC to join their International real estate and funds group where he was a partner from 2008 to 2012.
I am a partner at Simmons Gainsford LLP, having joined in 2001. In 2013 I was promoted to Partner. I manage a client portfolio ranging from large corporates to smaller businesses and start-ups. I manage SG’s technical accounting and compliance requirements, whilst also assisting with our IT strategy.
Whilst working at SG I have successfully completed my MBA Finance post-graduate degree at the University of Leicester.
Founder and Chairman of a successful recruitment business, James has a proven track record of building long-term close relationships with clients, based on mutual respect and trust. Entrepreneurial and creative, James specialises in the B2B, support services, facilities management, property and infrastructure business sectors.
Jeremy has over 20 years experience in the business process outsourcing market. Prior to establishing Simmons Gainsford Credit Management he worked for Northgate Information Solutions working with clients such as PwC, McAlpine and London Underground.
After recognising a gap in the market for high quality Credit Management Services, Jeremy conceived and designed the original service offering in 2006 and implemented this for our first customer who remains with us today. Jeremy is an active member of the Chartered Institute of Credit Management.
Gary spent 8 years at Deloitte as a Senior Tax Manager within the Financial Services Tax team before joining Simmons Gainsford in 2007 to head up the Corporate Tax Team. Whilst at Deloitte he gained experience in dealing with significant M&A transactions including advising on the largest leveraged acquisition of a rolling stock company. His major clients were FTSE 100 financial institutions and household names and he also advised on one of the largest transfer pricing reviews undertaken by HM Revenue and Customs. Gary has significant experience in fund structures, both the setting up and operations of authorised and unauthorised funds, which included a secondment to the internal tax team for one of the UK’s biggest fund managers as a manager of their fund tax accounting and compliance function. He has also been involved in cross border planning, both inbound and outbound investment by clients, with particular experience in relation to the US.
Since joining Simmons Gainsford he has been extensively involved in setting up and managing the UK tax affairs of UK and non-UK property funds and has advised on corporate reconstructions and M&A transactions at all levels. He provides advice on transfer pricing matters to the firms international clients and UK and International tax planning for both wealth retention and profit extraction.
With over 20 years experience in banking Delphine is a Fellow Chartered Certified Accountant and an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers. She is an experienced banker having worked both regionally and in the City where she headed a team of Corporate Analysts, evaluating client risk, allocating credit grades and appraising covenants.
Experience spans start-ups through to large corporates where she was the lead Bank Analyst for the likes of Land Trillium/Land Securities Group and Ferrovial/BAA.
Delphine has considerable experience as a lending decision maker within bank central lending units, sanctioning requests and setting pricing and terms. She has also directly relationship managed her own client portfolios giving her first-hand knowledge of the banking products available to meet their operational needs.
I am a partner at Simmons Gainsford LLP, after being promoted in 2000. I specialise in the real estate sector, act as a general business consultant and the audit engagement partner for a significant number of privately-owned entrepreneurial clients.
As the Training Partner, I am responsible for recruiting and monitoring the performance of SG’s accountancy trainees. Additionally, I am on the Board of Directors for two of SG’s associated businesses.
I am a Partner at Simmons Gainsford LLP, having originally joined Silver Altman in 1998 as Audit Manager, before it merged with SG in 2008. I was initially promoted to Partner at Silver Altman in 2000, and have continued in this role since the subsequent merger.
I am on the Executive Committee at SG, so am responsible for the finance and administration functions. I am also SG’s Banking Relationship Partner. In addition I am the Director for SG Credit Management Ltd. Away from SG I am currently a Trustee of Billericay Cricket Club.
Prior to joining SG I studied Mathematics at Cardiff University. Afterwards I trained and qualified in 1995 at Knox Cropper, which specialises in charities, and other non-profit organisations, in the role of Audit Manager.
I am a tax Partner at Simmons Gainsford LLP following the merger of my practice Intelligent Tax Solutions LLP which occurred in 2014.
I specialise in dealing with complex HMRC tax disputes including but not limited to those relating to tax avoidance, such as in relation to EBTs (where I have experience in taking matters to litigation), contractor schemes etc., as well as those conducted under Code of Practice 9.
I have a considerable amount of experience in matters relating to residence, domicile and offshore and international tax planning generally.
I also support a number of intermediaries including other accountants, lawyers and IFA’s with ad hoc tax support for their clients.
I am a partner at Simmons Gainsford LLP, having joined in 2003. I initially helped establish our UK office, located in Uckfield, Sussex, where I’m usually based. I am responsible for my portfolio of clients, and also SG’s payroll and tax departments.
I qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1980 with a small practice in Central London, ultimately leading to promotion to a manager role. In 1986 both a colleague and I set up an accountancy practice in East Sussex specialising in owner managed businesses and individuals.
Robert entered the Financial Services industry in 1980. He was previously a director of a successful IFA firm before joining forces with Geoff Hartnell to form SG Financial Services. Qualified in advanced pension planning, Robert has a broad knowledge of both personal and corporate pensions and his technical expertise and work ethic enable him to advise both individual clients and corporations.
I am a Partner at Simmons Gainsford LLP. I specialise in international tax, major corporate restructuring, transactional business and tax planning for high net worth individuals.
I graduated from the London School of Economics (LSE) in 1981 with a BSc Honours degree. I qualified in 1985 and received my practising certificate in 1991. In the same year I was head-hunted by SG to join as a partner.
As a partner at SG I have advised companies seeking quotes on the London Stock Exchange as well as advised overseas governments and multi-national corporations on their respective tax system architecture. I also have considerable experience advising corporate entities on a wide range of matters.
In addition to SG I am a Director of several private companies and Finance Director of a unique private client advisory business as well as being a Trustee and Treasurer of a major charity helping children overseas.
I am a partner at Simmons Gainsford LLP having joined in 2004, and then promoted to partner in 2007. I look after a varied portfolio of clients that range across a number of different sectors which include professional services, travel, manufacturing, recruitment, property investment and development.
In 1997 I qualified as a Chartered Accountant, and in 2000 I joined PwC until 2003. Whilst at PwC I worked in the Middle Markets division in their London office and was responsible for the audits of listed companies, city law firms and subsidiaries of listed and overseas companies.
Paul is the Managing Partner of our Gibraltar office having joined the firm in the summer of 2015 after 35 successful years in Personal and Corporate Banking with Barclays PLC, predominantly in London. Paul holds an HNC Diploma in Business Studies and he is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers.
Paul’s understanding of the lending market, having worked as a lending analyst for many years and forming part of the Bank’s internal Audit Team, together with his extensive knowledge of the SME market, allows him to bring that experience to help clients grow their businesses by improving their performance and efficiency through a fresh viewpoint and objectivity supported by strong analytical and people skills.
The move to Gibraltar in 2006 saw Paul establish a Corporate, Intermediary and Private Client team that quickly became one of the top performing teams in Barclays Wealth and Investment Management which was acknowledged externally in 2012 when his team won two of the prestigious Euromoney Magazine Banking Awards.
Paul brings a wealth of commercial experience together with a deep knowledge of the workings of the lending sector to benefit clients of the firm.
Andrew’s background in corporate finance dates from 1998, including as an Associate Director at Barclays Capital where he specialised in acquisition and structured finance in various sectors including retail, hospitality and healthcare for a range of corporates and private equity and sovereign wealth funds.
Prior to his career in investment banking, he spent five years at Wilde Sapte (now Dentons LLP) acting for the firm’s financial institution clients including GE Capital, MBNA Corporation (now Bank of America), Royal Bank of Scotland, Lloyds, Morgan Stanley and Prudential.
His legal career also included eight months on the American Bar Association’s International Legal Exchange at White & Case in New York.
More recently Andrew was also a founding shareholder and director of Affiniture Investments Limited, a payment card platform which purchased the UK Diners Club charge card business from Citi, and for which he raised two multi-million pound rounds of financing.
Aside from his qualification as an English solicitor and as an Approved Person by the Financial Conduct Authority, he holds a Masters Degree in Finance from London Business School (rated #1 globally in the Financial Times business school rankings).
Peter is Director of Global Tax and a Member of the Institutes of Chartered Accountants in England and in Australia. He has a Master’s degree in Business and a second Master’s in Tax Law and is a qualified (but non practising) Lawyer. He is a member of the Tax Institute and is researching towards a PhD in ‘BRICS and International Tax Law’ at Queen Mary, University of London which allows him to meet and discuss cross border tax issues with leading academics.
Peter has more than 37 years of experience in domestic and international tax in most of the leading jurisdictions and in growth economies. He is currently based in London but has previously been based at EY, New York (International Tax Partner in Jim Tobin’s Foreign tax desk programme and global head of EY’s international Oil and Gas Practice); EY, London (International Tax Partner, London Foreign tax desk cluster) and EY Sydney (Partner and head of the Australian Natural resources practice) and at PwC London (International Tax Partner, European head of tax based financing). Peter has also worked for a Japanese Investment Bank in London and for a leading natural resources company in Australia.
While at EY and PwC his practice was with publicly listed financial institutions, media, manufacturing and energy and in more recent years has been with high net worth individuals and their businesses. He advises on the tax risks of various cross border business and personal structures including business reorganisations, financings and derivatives, Intangibles and on the constituents of avoidance and evasion internationally, transfer pricing, bi-lateral and multi-lateral tax agreements including information exchange.
