Associate Partner at Simmons Gainsford, Nick Weller, is currently on a 3-month sabbatical, travelling and volunteering across Latin America and Africa. Here’s what he’s been up to…
We visited the final parts of the Peruvian Andes – Arequipa and the Colca Canyon.
Due to social unrest in Peru, it wasn’t possible to take part in any volunteering. However, once again we did learn lots about the local communities.
Volcanoes in the distance.
The Atacama Desert (Chile) in all its glory. We experienced a 7.2 earthquake here!
Here are some volcanoes, geysers and salt flats.
Valle de la Luna – otherwise known as Moon Valley.
Stargazing – an incredible experience.
Nick is moving on to Botswana to complete three weeks of conservation work. He reflected on his time in South America:
“My key take away from South America is that, if possible, everyone should try and visit the Galapagos. These islands are how the world was meant to be, with humans and animals living peacefully together.
Humans only take up 3% of the islands and live sustainably. Plus, the tourism helps to fund important conservation projects.”
