I am a member of the Simmons Gainsford Indirect Tax Practice with 15 years’ experience in VAT and indirect taxes. I am a non-practising barrister, and have a Masters in Laws. I specialise in land and property, finance and insurance, partial exemption, and certain customs matters. I worked for HMRC for 5 years, and spent 4 years working in the Big 4 working on a wide variety of client matters.
I am an experienced presenter, and regularly deliver training seminars on VAT and indirect taxes to colleagues and clients.
I advise on the full range of VAT for businesses and their advisors. As well as providing consultancy, I also act for clients in relation to penalties and disputes, and appeals to the First-tier Tribunal. For a number of years I had my own consultancy covering VAT and some customs and trade issues.
I began my tax career in Ireland and have worked in a number of international firms in Ireland and England. I have been a VAT partner in two “Group A” firms as well as a contributing editor of Hill and Redman’s Law of Landlord and Tenant and am a past National Chairman of the VAT Practitioners Group
