I am the Senior Partner and Head of Tax, specialising in advising on high value transactions and complex structures.
I also manage the Private Client Team, which looks after circa 1,600 clients including a large number of high-net-worth individuals and trusts.
I provide advice on all taxes which impact on the affairs of private individuals as well as privately-owned businesses.
I was promoted to Partner in 2000 and I act as a general business consultant and the audit engagement partner for a significant number of privately-owned entrepreneurial clients, with particular emphasis on the Real Estate sector.
I am also responsible for our Gibraltar office, acting as the liaison between this office and our London headquarters.
Having joined straight from graduating Oxford University in 2003, I then trained and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with the firm.
My client portfolio covers many sectors, but with a specific focus on privately owned businesses run by entrepreneurs. I pay a particular interest in working with my clients to understand their drive and ambitions, so to fully assist in achieving their aspirations.
I have also extensive experience in advising and auditing property companies.
Working alongside the Real Estate Tax Team on appropriate structures and works with a number of UK and international property groups.
Having joined in 1993, I have been a Partner since 2011. I am responsible for running and developing our Uckfield office, which has grown significantly since it first opened.
I specialise in statutory and management accounts production, corporate and personal tax, new business start-ups, and general consultancy.
I previously trained and worked with a small sole partner firm, where it then evolved into Simmons Gainsford.
Having joined in 1991, I was promoted to Partner in 1994. I have a diverse portfolio of audit clients covering the property, publishing and insurance sectors. I head up our Russian desk and work with a range of clients from Russia and Eastern Europe.
Before joining the firm I qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1985 with a city practice, spending the following 5 years working for an international Chartered Accountancy firm in their London and St Albans offices.
I am also the firm’s Compliance Partner with responsibilities for audit compliance, anti-money laundering procedures and data protection.
Having joined in 2004, I was then promoted to partner in 2007. I look after a varied portfolio of clients that range across a number of different sectors which include professional services, travel, manufacturing, recruitment, property investment and development.
In 1997 I qualified as a Chartered Accountant, and in 2000 I joined PwC until 2003.
Whilst at PwC I worked in the Middle Markets division in their London office and was responsible for the audits of listed companies, city law firms and subsidiaries of listed and overseas companies.
I am a Tax Partner with a considerable amount of experience in advising on Private Client matters specifically relating to residence, domicile, estate planning and offshore and international tax planning. I can advise from both a UK and also a Gibraltar perspective and am heavily involved with our local office.
I also head up the Dispute Resolution team, specialising in dealing with complex HMRC tax disputes.
As well as having my client portfolio, I also work closely with a number of intermediaries including other accountants, lawyers, trust companies and insolvency practitioners providing ad hoc tax support for their clients.
I joined the firm in 2014, becoming a Partner in 2018. I advise UK Companies, LLPs, partnerships and overseas businesses, focusing on compliance requirements, audit and preparation of accounts and filing of various business returns to HMRC.
I focus on my clients’ internal management reporting systems, preparing financial plans for their business development and advising on structuring business. Ranging from owner-managed businesses to large groups, my clients operate in various sectors including property, hospitality services and insurance brokers.
Outside of work, I follow various sports and enjoy travelling with my family.
I joined the firm in 1998 and was promoted to Partner in 2000.

I am a Chartered Tax Adviser with over a decade’s experience in “Group A” accountancy firms as a personal tax specialist.
I have been part of the Private Client Team at the firm and I specialise in advising clients on offshore and onshore personal tax planning, with particular focus on domicile and residency as well as owner-managed businesses in respect of capital tax issues.
Having joined in 2001, I was promoted to Partner in 2013. I manage a client portfolio ranging from large corporates to smaller businesses and start-ups.
I manage our technical accounting and compliance requirements, whilst also assisting with our IT strategy.

A Chartered Tax Adviser with 18 years experience in the profession, I joined Simmons Gainsford in November 2020 from a top 25 firm. I head up the firm’s Corporate Tax team, dealing with corporation tax compliance and advisory matters.
I specialise in the creative, media and technology sector as well as property and some of my key specialisms have been advising on the Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS), employee share scheme matters such as the Enterprise Management Scheme (EMI) and also Research and Development tax relief. Before specialising in corporation tax, I was a general accountant for five years and as such feel able to advise clients both in relation to accounting and tax matters, as well as considering the commercial implications of transactional activities beyond their tax impact.
I began my tax career in Ireland and have worked in a number of international firms in Ireland and England. I have been a VAT partner in two “Group A” firms and National Chairman of the VAT Practitioners Group.
I advise on the full range of VAT for businesses and their advisors. As well as providing consultancy, I also act for clients in relation to penalties and disputes, and appeals to the First-tier Tribunal. For a number of years I had my own consultancy covering VAT and some customs and trade issues.
I head up the firm’s Real Estate and Transactional Tax Team, also working on M&A and Business Development.
My experience includes being an International Real Estate and Funds Tax Partner at PwC from 2008 to 2012 and lead tax advisor for a number of international and UK investors and asset managers. I have extensive expertise in structuring real estate transactions, funds and associated management vehicles in a direct tax, personal tax and VAT efficient manner.
I am currently principal of AuHg Consulting through which I provide advice to UK and international clients.
Before joining in 2007 I spent 8 years at Deloitte, the final four of which as a Senior Tax Manager. My major clients included FTSE 100 financial institutions and household names and I also advised on one of the largest transfer pricing reviews undertaken by HMRC.
I have significant experience in fund structures and I have been extensively involved in setting up and managing the tax affairs of UK and non-UK property funds.
I provide planning advice to the firm’s international clients and UK and International tax planning for both wealth retention and profit extraction.
I joined the firm as a trainee in 1994 and, after qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1997, was seconded for 2 years to what was then the Companies Investigation Branch of the Department of Trade and Industry.
I am currently the Technical Director as well as an audit manager with a diverse portfolio of clients including property, charities and solicitors.
I am also registered as an auditor in Gibraltar with responsibility for those audits.
I joined the firm in 2009 in which time I have seen our operation in Sussex grow significantly. I am now the Director of our Business Outsourcing and Bookkeeping service, Fl3xiBooks.
My expertise lies in developing and maintaining financial systems, client relationships and company records to provide meaningful management information for SMEs and compliance with HMRC legislation.
I joined the firm in 2016 after spending 9 years with a mid-tier London firm, where I acquired some of my managerial experience.
A vast range of industries are covered in my client portfolio which includes retail, travel agents (include ATOL licenced agents), property investment and corporate services, with their sizes range from owner-managed to groups with international presence.
As a fluent Cantonese speaker, I’m part of the Far East helpdesk dedicated in providing business solutions to East Asian companies having operations in the UK.
Having qualified as a member of the ACCA in 2005, I originally joined the firm in 2014 as an audit manager and was recently promoted to Associate Partner.
Outside of my work with the firm, I have worked with boutique firms, largely with an international focus. One firm in particular specialised in working with foreign owned companies. During this period I focused on clients in the manufacturing, pharmaceutical and commercial property sectors, including acting for a large contractor involved in the development of London City Airport.
Other international clients have included a Swiss multinational plant equipment manufacturer and the UK subsidiary of a French group, specialising in high-end luxury fit out for residential and commercial property.
Having graduated from Cardiff University with a BSC in International Business Management, I qualified as a Chartered Accountant with an independent accountancy firm in Woking.

I was promoted to Manager in 2016 and I predominantly specialise in the property sector where I have over 10 years of experience.
I am also chairman of the firm’s training and development team, looking at the staff training framework which is pivotal for the career development of the firm’s team.
I am a manager at SG Indirect Tax Services, with 15 years’ experience in VAT and indirect taxes. I am a non-practising barrister, and have a Masters in Laws. I specialise in land and property, finance and insurance, partial exemption, and certain customs matters.
I worked for HMRC for 5 years, and spent 4 years working in the Big 4 working on a wide variety of client matters.
I am an experienced presenter, and regularly deliver training seminars on VAT and indirect taxes to colleagues and clients.
I joined the Chinese desk in the audit and accounts department in 2016 as an audit senior and I was promoted to the role of audit manager in 2020.
I currently manage a diversified client database covering an array of industries such as property development, consumer electronics, sales and marketing and logistics. My clients vary in size ranging from small owner-managed-business to the UK presence of well-known international brand names.

After graduating from St. Andrews University in chemistry, I trained and qualified as a chartered accountant with an independent London firm. In my 18 years there I worked in the audit and accounts team on a variety of clients.
I joined the firm in 2016 as an audit manager and most of the clients I work on are in property investment and development.
Apart from audit and accounts I also specialise in corporation tax.
After graduating from Oxford Brookes University in Applied Accounting, I trained and qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant with an independent London firm.
In my 6 years there I worked in the audit, accounts and tax teams; on a variety of clients. I also had experience of working on and preparing reports for tax investigations.
I joined the firm in 2016 and have since progressed to Audit Manager, where I now manage a diverse portfolio of clients.
I joined the firm in 2010 and I look after the Sussex office’s audit and accounts team dealing with a wide range of businesses from sole traders and charities to £30m+ international groups.

In 2001 I worked with a boutique training firm that specialised in supporting financial and professional services firms. I was initially responsible for business development but gradually moved into the design and delivery of sales coaching and training programmes.
In 2004 I established my own company which provides practical business development support. Over the last 15+ years I have worked as a business development consultant focusing on sales, account management and coaching to a variety of firms across several sectors, including: accountancy, legal, investment management, property and insurance.
Although technically a college dropout, I did return to university 20 years later to complete an MBA with the Open University Business School.
I am a FCCA accountant and have been with the firm for almost 9 years, having joined in 2012 as a member of the audit and accounts team working predominantly for clients dealt with by the Russian Desk.
