DownloadWe are delighted to once again be sponsoring the Sovereign Art Foundation (SAF) Students Prize in Gibraltar – an award that celebrates the talent of 11-18-year-old students and highlights the importance of art in the education system.
Currently running 10 Student Prizes globally, the SAF is a charitable organisation that was founded in 2003 to recognise, support and promote contemporary art talent; and to bring the therapeutic benefits of art to disadvantaged children.
A new feature for 2022 is that sculptural and 3D works are now accepted as well as 2D. Students must submit their artworks to the competition’s online platform by 21 October. The twenty shortlisted artworks will then be displayed in Gibraltar across a series of Finalists’ Exhibitions from 23 November.
The overall winner of this prize will be determined by the judging panel comprising Gallerist and Curator Magda Bellotti, Artist and Educator Sarah Devincenzi, Local Artist Sebastian Rodriguez, Curator Rowan Bain and Howard Bilton, Founder and Chairman of SAF, who commented: “We have been delighted to see how well received the Students Prize has been by the local community. Schools and art teachers have been extremely supportive in encouraging their students to enter and helping promote the Prize. The local business community has really stepped up and we are extremely grateful to Simmons Gainsford for their sponsorship for the second year, which helps us to achieve so much with this Prize”.
