I am Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and co-founder of Defries Weiss, where I served as a principal from 1996 until the firm’s acquisition by Simmons Gainsford in 2025. I trained and qualified with KPMG in 1990, gaining a strong foundation in audit and general practice before joining Defries Weiss in 1995 following a demerger.
I hold a degree in law and mathematics, as well as a Master’s focused on the personal finances of Charles Dickens – a subject I continue to research. My professional expertise lies in tax planning for individuals and family businesses, with particular strength in income tax, corporation tax, and HMRC enquiries.
Beyond work, I serve as a magistrate and I am a trustee of a national bereavement charity. A keen musician, I perform regularly with both a steel band and a party band.
