I am a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and co-founder of Defries Weiss, where I was a principal from 1996 until that firm’s acquisition by Simmons Gainsford in 2025. I trained and qualified with KPMG, where I gained a strong foundation in audit and general practice. My main expertise is in tax planning for individuals and family businesses.
I hold degrees in law and mathematics, and an MA for my original research into the personal finances of Charles Dickens. Outside work I am an experienced magistrate and a keen musician, playing bass guitar and steel pan.
